Slovakia technically ready to boost gas flow to Ukraine

Xinhua, February 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Slovakia is technically ready to increase the volume of reverse gas supplies to Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Friday.

Slovakia is technically ready to launch the full operation of a higher transit capacity of the Uzhhorod-Vojany gas pipeline, according to the Prime Minister, who made the announcement after meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"We'll boost the volume from 11.5 billion cubic metres per year to over 14.5 billion cubic metres per year," Fico said.

According to Fico, the volume increase will practically bring Slovakia's gas supplies to one third of Ukraine's domestic consumption.

Slovakia launched the gas reverse flow to Ukraine on Sept. 2, 2014. Enditem
