BiH police prepares to deal with one-year anniversary of 2014 protests

Xinhua, February 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on Friday established the operation headquarters to deal with Saturday's one-year anniversary of violent protests in 2014.

The aim of the headquarters was to make sure "certain hooligan groups do not use it for violent behaviors, as it happened last year," the Directorate said in a statement.

The headquarters will secure coordination of actions from several agencies to ensure safety, the Directorate said.

The headquarters included members of the Directorate, the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, the Federation Police Administration, the State Investigation and Protection Agency and the Border Police of BiH, reported Fena, the Federal News Agency.

Protesters and police clashed violently on Feb. 7, 2014, with some buildings set on fire, including the Presidential Building. More than 200 people were injured, most of them police officers. Enditem
