Greece will remain a member of the 19-nation eurozone, despite the leftists winning the general election have rejected Germany-backed austerity and opposed bailout deal, French President Francois Hollande said on Monday.

"Greece is a member of the eurozone. It wants to stay in the zone and it will remain," Hollande said.

He said talks between France and Greece on the latter's bailout would be based on "solidarity" and "responsibility," adding that "commitments have been made and should be held."

Pledging to go on cooperation with anti-austerity new Greek government, Hollande invited Alexis Tsipras, leader of SYRIZA party to visit France "rapidly."

The 40-year-old Greek Prime Minister was sworn in earlier on Monday and pledged to re-negotiate the tough economic measures imposed by European partners and international lenders to help the debt-ridden country.

Tsipras also dismissed the possibility of a clash with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund creditors, as well as a Greek default and exit from the eurozone. Endit
