U.S. stocks closed mixed Friday after a four-day winning streak, as investors were pondering over the fourth-quarter earnings following the prior day's big rally on the European Central Bank's stimulus action.

The Dow fell nearly 0.8 percent, and the S&P 500 lost 0.6 percent while the Nasdaq inched up 0.2 percent. Endite
