Turkey declares national day of mourning for Saudi King Abdullah

Xinhua, January 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Turkey Friday declared the day of Saturday as national day of mourning over the death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah.

Turkish Prime Ministry Press Center said in a written statement that "as a sign of mourning, all flags will be lowered to half-staff across the country and in all of our foreign diplomatic representations on the day."

On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delayed a planned trip to Somalia to attend the funeral of King Abdullah, official media reported.

Erdogan is on an African trip and was due to travel later Friday to Somalia. With the change of plan, he will go to the Saudi capital after an official visit to Ethiopia, according to sources within Erdogan's entourage. Endit
