Xi's representative to depart for Saudi Arabia over King's death

Special Representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, State Councilor Yang Jiechi will travel to Saudi Arabia Saturday for an "official commemoration" for late King Abdullah.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the announcement Friday.

Abdullah passed away in Riyadh early in the morning Friday at the age of 90. He was hospitalized in December for pneumonia and was put on a ventilator.

Abdullah's half-brother Salman is the new ruler. Prince Muqrin was declared new Crown Prince. Endit
