Vietnam, U.S. boost ties on combating trans-national crime

Vietnam wishes to further promote ties with the United States in the fight against money laundering offenses, high-tech crimes and to establish an information sharing mechanism to combat crimes, said a Vietnamese official on Friday.

Le Quy Vuong, deputy minister of Public Security, made the remarks while meeting with Matthew H. King, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security here on Friday during the latter's visit to Vietnam.

Vuong said at the meeting the two countries have strengthened ties on combating international, trans-national crime, human trafficking and drug trafficking among others.

The visiting U.S. official, for his part, highlighted cooperation achievements between law enforcement agencies of both sides.

King expressed his desire that the U.S.-Vietnam cooperation will yield greater results in the coming time, especially in combating crime, justice, personnel training among others, for the benefits of the two peoples as well as for peace of the region and the world, the website of Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security reported on Friday.
