Burkina Faso to hold general elections in October

Xinhua, January 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Burkina Faso will hold its presidential and legislative elections to end the current transition on Oct. 11 this year, the transition President Michel Kafando announced Thursday.

The government, political actors and the National Independent Electoral Commission also agreed to organize municipal elections on Jan. 31, 2016.

The authorities said revision of the poll register will begin on Feb. 27 across the country to allow all potential voters to register.

It's estimated that the elections will cost a total of 100 million U.S. dollars, while the country currently only has 50 million U.S. dollars for it, local media said. Endi
