On the morning of September 22, 2013, Bo Xilai was sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power. Bo is the first top politician in the highest echelon of power to be charged after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012. President Xi Jinping declared that one of his major concerns was to fight against corruption under the people's supervision, and neither the "tigers"(bigwig leaders) nor the "flies"(low-ranking officials) would be spared. Without doubt, Bo is one of the biggest tigers. [photo / Xinhua] |
