Education Officials Claim Many Support Gaokao Reforms
China Daily, October 29, 2013 Adjust font size:
Beijing education authorities said they have received more than 1,000 e-mails, letters and faxes since Oct 22 supporting reforms to the university entrance exam, the Beijing News reported on Monday.
Beijing Commission of Education published its reforms of gaokao last week, increasing scores for subjects in Chinese and reducing scores for subjects in English.
The commission has opened up to public advice after details into the gaokao reforms were published, claiming most participants supported the reforms but also provided suggestions, the report said.
Although scores of English in gaokao are dropping, many parents said they will continue with their children's English training and buy some Chinese books to improve the kids' reading ability, according to the report.
The commission's solicitation of advice ended today.
