Thailand's Public Health Ministry has increasingly stockpiled the antiviral Oseltamivir after the country on Tuesday found its first two confirmed A/H1N1 flu patients, returning from Mexico.

The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) under the supervision of the Health Ministry has ordered materials from China and India to produce two more million pills of the antiviral Oseltamivir, according to a GPO press release obtained by Xinhua on Wednesday.

The two countries will be due to send the materials to the GPO in early June and July, the GPO said in the press release, adding the two more million pills will be enough for probable 200,000 patients.

Currently, the GPO is manufacturing another one million pills of the antiviral Oseltamivir, which has been ordered by the country's Public Health Ministry, said the GPO press release.

Moreover, the Health Ministry has proposed the cabinet for 80 million baht (US$2.32 million) worth of fund for the GPO to purchase materials and reserve them to produce two more million pills of the antiviral Oseltamivir in the future, said the GPO press release.

The Public Health Ministry has already reserved 3.2 million pills of the antiviral Oseltamivir, which will be enough for possible 320,000 patients, said the GPO press release.
