Project Title: Aiding Breast Cancer Sufferer
Project Initiator: China Population Welfare Foundation
Introduction of the Project:
In China, breast cancer is one of the leading causes of (cancer-related) deaths among women. Most breast cancer sufferers have undergone the proper medical treatment, but there are still a few impoverished patients who lose their lives because they cannot afford the medical expenses. Without timely medical treatment, their disease increasingly worsens until they finally succumb to it.
In order to provide timely treatment for breast cancer patients from family planning families hailing from particularly poor conditions, the China Population Welfare Foundation launched the “Aiding Breast Cancer Sufferers” in 2002.
The Foundation plans to provide 3,000-10,000 RMB to those patients with breast cancer who cannot afford the medical procedures. This program also aims to improve childbearing-age women’s awareness of healthy self-examination and protection, and calls on all of society to show concern towards those vulnerable groups living in poverty-stricken conditions.
