Project Title: Spring Bud Project

Project Initiator: China Children and Teenagers' Fund

Introduction of the Project:

In 1989, under the leadership of All China Women's Federation, China Children and Teenagers' Fund launched and organized the implementation of a social welfare project to help dropout girls in poverty-stricken areas return to schools.The project is named "Spring Bud Project'. As of the end of 2009, the"Spring Bud Project"raised 800 million yuan in total, built more than 1000 Spring Bud schools, aided more than 2 million poverty-stricken girls to return to campus and provided technical training for more than 400,000 girls. The"Spring Bud Project"has become a successful example for public welfare organization of China to promote education and development of girls. In 2005, the"Spring Bud Project"was granted"China Charity Award"by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

In order to consistently expand and enrich the meaning of the Spring Bud Project, four actions were launched in June 2009 - namely,"Spring Bud Project - Student Aid Action,'"Spring Bud Project - Talents Cultivation Action,'"Spring Bud Project - Employment Action,"and"Spring Bud Project - Special Action in Caring for Left-behind Children,"which put together social forces in solving actual schooling and living difficulties facing the needy girls and left-behind children in the poverty-stricken regions.
