Project Title: Project Hope

Project Initiator: China Youth Development Foundation and the Communist Youth League

Introduction of the Project:

Project Hope is a Chinese public service project organized by the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) and the Communist Youth League (CYL) Central Committee. Founded on October 30, 1989, it aims to bring schools into poverty-stricken rural areas of China and help children whose families are too poor to afford elementary school education. Through Project Hope, the CYDF has also sought to improve educational facilities and improve teaching quality in China’s poorer regions.

Project Hope now consists of several sub programs: Stars of Hope Scholarship, supporting the most promising students selected among Project Hope; Hope school, a program designed to aid schools in poor remote areas that are in urgent need of modernization; Hope Library, a program donating books and study materials to students; Hope Computer Lab, offering multimedia long-distance learning courses via the Internet to remote areas of China; Hope Happy Playground, donating physical education equipment to rural and urban children to ensure the quality of PE lessons and after-school activities; Project Hope Teacher, a program to sponsor the training of Hope School teachers.
