One Canadian, one American kidnapped in Nigeria

OTTAWA, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- One Canadian and one American were kidnapped in the Nigerian state of Kaduna Wednesday, according to CBC.

They were ambushed by unknown gunmen around Kagarko on their way from the city of Kaduna to the capital Abuja. The two police escorting them were killed by the kidnappers in a gun battle.

The Abuja-Kaduna road has long been a haunt for kidnappers. Last February, two German archaeologists were abducted in the region but were later freed. Enditem
