Spanish public debt reaches record high of 1.14 tln euros in Nov

MADRID, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Spanish public debt reached a record high of 1.14 trillion euros (1.39 trillion U.S. dollars) in November 2017, according to data published Wednesday by the Bank of Spain.

From October to November, debt rose by 0.8 percent or 9.04 billion euros.

The amount represented 98.8 percent of the Spanish gross domestic product (GDP) and surpassed the 2017 goal set by the Spanish government of 98.1 percent of GDP.

The bank informed that the debt of the central administration increased by 11.14 billion euros from October to November to a total of 987.18 billion euros.

The debt of the social security system increased by 4.18 billion euros from October to November, 2017 to 27.364 billion euros, which meant a 18-percent increase on a month-to-month basis. Enditem
