Spanish shares drop 0.44 pct Wednesday

MADRID, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares lost on Wednesday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 down 0.44 percent or 45.80 points, to close at 10,474.60 points.

A total of 23 of the 35 large companies lost in the day.

Spain's fifth largest bank Bankia fell 2.20 percent followed by consultancy and technology company Indra A and airline group IAG that lost 2.12 percent and 1.48 percent respectively.

Telecommunication company Cellnex advanced 1.65 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Real estate company Merlin rose 0.96 percent and stainless steel manufacturer Acerinox was up 0.72 percent. Enditem
