Bordeaux summon three players for inappropriate joking following defeat

Xinhua,January 18, 2018 Adjust font size:

PARIS, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian rising star Malcom and two teammates were summoned on Wednesday by Ligue 1 club Bordeaux for a disciplinary hearing as the three players were seen in a video laughing and joking following the team's defeat.

Malcom, reportedly with a potential move to Premier League side Arsenal, joked with his teammates Jonathan Cafu and Otavio, and several friends outside the stadium hours after Bordeaux's 2-0 home defeat to Caen on Tuesday. The video was later posted online.

"The club strongly condemns the video posted Tuesday night on social networks at the exit of Matmut Atlantique by relatives of Cafu, Malcom and Otavio," Bordeaux said in a statement.

Cafu and Otavio were also ordered to give explanations for their conduct.

"Faced with this lack of maturity, solidarity and respect towards the organization and all its staff, Bordeaux will summon the three players, as soon as possible, for a disciplinary interview," the club added.

The loss leaves Bordeaux 13th, with 23 points from 21 matches.

Malcom, 20, joined Bordeaux in 2016. He scored seven league goals for the French club this season.

He was seen as a replacement for Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez, who could leave Arsenal during the winter transfer window. Enditem
