German shares lose 0.47 pct Wednesday

FRANKFURT, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 62.37 points, or 0.47 percent, to close at 13,183.96 points.

European mass media company ProSiebenSat.1 lost the most among the blue chips, down by 1.49 percent, followed by pharmaceutical company Merck and energy group RWE, which lost 1.21 percent and 1.13 percent respectively.

German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies, reinsurance company Munich Re and insurance and financial services company Allianz were the top three winners, rising 0.88 percent, 0.87 percent and 0.87 percent respectively.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most traded share of the day, with a turnover of 277.05 million euros (310.85 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
