CAPE TOWN, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Tuesday:

-- African National Congress (ANC) National Chairperson and Speaker of the National Assembly Baleka Mbete said on Monday that despite the predictions of naysayers, the ANC's upcoming national conference will be dignified, respectful and united.

"We will come out of the conference intact. There are many who have predictions. They are saying we will disintegrate, split or end up throwing chairs. They can talk, but we will come out of this stronger than ever,"(News24).

-- Among the challenges to be addressed at the African National Congress (ANC) conference later in December is the implementation of structural reforms at state-owned enterprises (SOEs), the party's Enoch Godongwana said on Monday.

He was speaking in his capacity as chairperson of the ANC National Economic Committee's subcommittee on economic transformation at a briefing in Johannesburg.(Fin24).
