Canadian stock market ends lower Wednesday

TORONTO, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock index ended lower on Wednesday due to losses among miners with weaker copper and gold prices.

Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index fell 61.92 points, or 0.39 percent, to end the day at 15,967.72. Seven of the index' s 10 main sectors ended lower.

CN Rail fell 1.8 percent to 98.20 Canadian dollars. It was its worst one-day fall since July 26 this year.

Royal Bank of Canada rose 0.9 percent to 101.38 Canadian dollars while the overall financial sector rose 0.4 percent.

Shopify Inc declined seven percent to 133.40 Canadian dollars. The technology group fell 2.6 percent overall.

The materials group, including precious and base metals miners and fertilizer companies, lost 1.3 percent as prices for gold as well as copper, aluminum and other base metals dropped.

Potash Corp edged up 0.6 percent to 25.08 Canadian dollars. Enditem
