U.S. eyes close cooperation with Chile

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The United States is looking forward to continued close cooperation with Chile, the U.S. State Department said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, a meeting of the U.S.-Chile High Level Bilateral Political Consultative Mechanism was held in Washington, which was co-chaired by U.S. Under Secretary for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon and Chilean Deputy Foreign Minister Edgardo Riveros.

During the talk, the two senior diplomats discussed security cooperation, economic growth through investment and trade, human rights and good governance, according to a statement released by the U.S. State Department.

The United States welcomes the opportunity for engagement with Chile and looks forward to continued close cooperation, it said. Enditem
