Hollywood actor runs for congress in South California

Xinhua, May 9, 2017 Adjust font size:

Antonio Sabato Jr., an actor best known for his roles on several reality television shows, announced to run for congress in South California in the west coast of the United States.

According to local KTLA 5, the actor filled documents to the Federal Election Commission on Monday and pledged to challenge the two-term Republican Congresswoman Julia Brownley in upcoming mid-terms election in 2018.

Strategist Charles Moran, who would serve as Sabato's fundraiser and a top adviser, was quoted as saying that the 45-year-old actor had long been interested in politics and public policy, but his experiences at the Republican Nationals Convention last year prompted him to consider running for office.

The issues Sabato planned to focus on were veterans' needs and substance abuse, Moran said, adding that the Italian-born actor's good relationship with the White House and Republican leadership would help him to success.

Sabato was a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and was one of the few celebrities to turn out for Trump's inauguration in Washington DC in January. Endit
