Ghana' s Nyantakyi named Vice President of regional soccer body

Xinhua, May 8, 2017 Adjust font size:

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Monday confirmed the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi as its first vice president.

The decision was made at the executive committee's meeting in Bahrain, the GFA said.

DR Congo's Constant Omari Selemani was also named the second vice president of CAF.

Both Nyantakyi and Omari will assist CAF president Ahmad Ahmad to run football on the continent for the next four years.

Ahmad ousted former President Issa Hayatou in the election held last March, which ended Hayatou's 29 years at head of African football.

Nyantakyi, who is also a member of the expanded FIFA council, thus becomes the first Ghanaian to hold such high position in the continental soccer governing body. Endit
