Turkish military seizes major PKK arms stash in southeast

The major arms stash of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has been seized in the Turkey's southeastern Sirnak Province, the Turkish Armed Forces stated on late Sunday.

According to the statement, lots of weapons and ammunition, including anti-tank weapons, machine guns and infantry weapons, were seized during the operation last weekend.

Turkish military declared the arm stash as "the main weapons and ammunition storage of the PKK in the Turkey," and the operations "the biggest blow" to the PKK's logistic support in recent years.

The sources said that various other materials, including housing equipment and food, have been seized.

Turkish forces also raided 25 caves used by terrorists and seized many documents belonging to the group.

Founded in 1978, the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the Europe Union, resumed its armed campaign in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation. Endit
