JSE all share closes firmer on support of weaker rand

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange closed firmer on Wednesday as a weaker rand provided some support to rand hedges and global miners.

The South Africa rand closed at R13.27 against the U.S. dollar at 5:00 p.m. (CAT) .

Spot gold was flat at 1,263.33 dollars an ounce after falling earlier in the week.

The all share was up 0.79 percent at 53,680.69 points and the blue-chip top 40 rose 0.99 percent. Resources added 1.43 percent, food and drug retailers gained 0.45 percent, and industrials was up 0.89 percent. The gold index dropped 1.07 percent, platinums lost 1.34 percent and banks went up 0.03 percent. Endit
