1st Ld Writethru: Russian MiG-31 fighter crashes with no casualties

A MiG-31 aircraft crashed on Wednesday in the Republic of Buryatia in southern Russia during a regular training flight. The two pilots are alive after being ejected, according to a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The jet, which belongs to Russia's Eastern Military District, fell in a secluded area at around 0905 GMT, according to the statement.

Both pilots were ejected from the plane without any threat to their lives. The ministry did not disclose the cause of the incident.

MiG-31 is a supersonic interceptor developed by the Mikoyan design bureau. It is one of Russia's major warplanes. Endi
