British stocks drop 0.55 pct Monday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Monday dropped by 0.55 percent, or 40.23 points, to 7,282.69 points.

Provident Financial topped the gainers of the blue chips, up 1.57 percent. It was followed by Mondi, Micro Focus International, Randgold Resources and Burberry Group, up 1.45 percent, 1.19 percent, 1.01 percent and 0.75 percent respectively.

Next led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.56 percent, followed by ITV, down 2.56 percent, Prudential, down 1.96 percent, Standard Chartered, losing 1.93 percent and Hikma Pharmaceuticals, losing 1.87 percent. Endit
