Albania's GDP up by 3.97 pct in Q4, 2016

Albania's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 3.97 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016, Dalina Ibrahimaj, Director of the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said in a press conference Monday.

The GDP's growth was mainly driven by trade, accommodation, transports and food service sectors by 0.94 percent, construction sector by 0.89 percent and extractive industry by 0.61 percent, according to the INSTAT director.

According to Ibrahimaj, exports of goods and services increased by 15.91 percent, but imports of goods and services decreased by 0.45 percent.

INSTAT also made a preliminary estimate of Albania's GDP for 2016 which increased by 3.46 percent over 2015, based on quarterly evaluations. Enditem
