Spain receives 4.1 mln int'l tourists in Feb.

Spain received a total of 4.1 million international tourists in February, according to data published on Friday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).
The figure meant a 1.9 percent increase when compared with the same month of a year earlier.
Arrivals from Britain reached 920,870 in February, accounting for 22.4 percent of the total and meaning a 14.3 percent increase when compared with February, 2016.
The British were followed by the French, whose arrivals reached 599,329, 12.8 percent more than the same month of a year earlier. The Germans were third with a total of 516,723 arrivals, marking a 6.8 percent increase over February, 2016.
The archipelago of the Canary Islands was chosen as the main destination in the second month of the year, receiving 28.7 percent of the total number of tourists who visited Spain.
Northeastern region of Catalonia and southern region of Andalusia received 23.9 percent of the total and 14.2 percent of the total respectively.
Spain received 75.6 million international tourists in 2016, hitting a new record high. The country is one of the most visited destinations in the world and ranked first in 2015 in the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report published by the World Economic Forum. Enditem
