Russia launches second Yasen-class submarine

The second Yasen-class submarine named "Kazan" was launched in Severodvinsk on Friday.

The launching ceremony was attended by Deputy Premier Dmitry Rogozin and Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Korolev, according to a TASS report.

The series of seven Yasen-class submarines are to be built before 2020. Rogozin said that the boats will let Russia confidently defend its interests in the international level.

Project 885 Yasen-class is the newest Russian nuclear-powered multipurpose attack submarine.

These ships are armed with cruise missiles, land attack missiles, anti-submarine missiles, and torpedoes. Endit
