The Austrian unemployment rate has remained relatively unchanged year-over-year for the month of February, with 475,786 persons recorded as jobless.

The figures released by the Social Affairs ministry on Wednesday thus put the unemployment rate as per Austria's domestic calculation method at 10.1 percent, and at 5.7 percent as per the Eurostat definition.

Notable in February was a continued upward trend in the number of available jobs, up nearly 50,000 or 37.7 percent over February 2016.

By industry, goods production saw a 3.4 percent drop in unemployment, while further decreases were also seen in construction down 2.1 percent, and trade down 2.5 percent.

Social Affairs Minister Alois Stoeger said he believes the trend toward declining unemployment figures will continue in the months ahead. Enditem
