Belarus, Georgia agree to strengthen relations

Belarus and Georgia have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation at all levels and in all spheres of mutual interest, the Belarusian presidential press service reported on Wednesday.

The agreement was made during a meeting between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and visiting Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili.

While speaking to his counterpart Lukashenko noted that a breakthrough has been achieved in relations between the two states for several years. In 2016, the volume of trade between Belarus and Georgia increased by 63 percent, reaching a record for the past five years.

Lukashenko also stressed Belarus' readiness to provide Georgian companies with the most favorable conditions for doing business.

The head of state said that the two countries do not have any contradictions in political relations. He also thanked his Georgian counterpart for country' s position in international organizations, supporting Belarus.

In turn, Giorgi Margvelashvili said that Belarus' efforts to strengthen stability in the region will bear fruit. He also said that Georgia has supported and will support Belarus in the international arena. Endit
