Kazakhstan open men's soccer tourney with big win

Defending champions Kazakhstan whitewashed South Korea 4-0 to open the men's hockey tournament at the Asian Winter Games on Wednesday.

Kazakhstan scored twice in the second period and added two in the third at Tsukisamu Gymnasium, giving their rivals a 12th straight loss in as many encounters where they outscored the bronze medalists of last Games 93-12.

South Korea, Kazakhstan, Japan and China are in the round robin competition, and the top three teams will step on the podium on Sunday.

With four minutes to go, American-born South Korean forward Michael Testwuide suffered an apparent injury to his face. Seen with a cut above his left eye and with his left arm in a sling, Testwuide was transferred to a nearby hospital. Endit
