Number of Bulgarian tourists grows by 10.4 pct in Q4

Bulgaria's National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Monday that 833,500 Bulgarian residents made tourist trips in the fourth quarter of 2016, up 10.4 percent year-on-year.

As many as 90.2 percent of the Bulgarians traveled within the country, 8.6 percent traveled only abroad, and 1.2 percent traveled both at home and abroad, the agency added.

A majority of the tourists chose independent travels, with 95.7 percent of the tourists at home and 66.7 percent of the tourist travelling abroad were independent travellers, the NSI said.

Meanwhile, the survey, which covers people aged 15 and beyond, showed that the average spending per person for a private trip was 154 BGN (some 84 U.S. dollars) in the country and about 328 dollars abroad.

At the same time, the average expenditure per person on business trips was nearly 86 dollars for domestic trips and some 472 dollars for business trips abroad. Enditem
