Borussia Dortmund have completed the transfer of defender Oemer Toprak from Bayer Leverkusen, both German Bundesliga clubs confirmed on Sunday.

The 27-year-old, who will leave for Dortmund in the summer, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal, which will keep him in the new club until June 2021.

"Oemer Toprak is a string and internationally experience centre back with leadership abilities," Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said.

The Turkish international played since June 2011 for Bayer Leverkusen where he provided two assists and five goals in 143 competitive outings ever since.

"When I join Dortmund in the summer, a new stage life begins for me," Toprak said.

In deference to league rivals Leverkusen, Dortmund will not comment on Toprak's transfer until the end of the current season.

The "BVB" sit currently on the 3rd place of the Bundesliga standings, and will encounter bottom dwelling Damrstadt in the 20th round on Saturday. Endit
