French FM arrives in Tehran for talks on bilateral ties

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran on Monday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on multifaceted economic and political ties.

During his two-day visit, Ayrault is scheduled to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.

Accompanied by a senior economic delegation, the French foreign minister will participate in a session of Iran-France joint economic commission, Press TV reported.

According to the report, Iran and France are holding the economic session after some 17 years.

French Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said on Friday that Ayrault would reaffirm EU's commitment to the landmark 2015 Iranian nuclear agreement during his visit to Tehran, the report said. Endit
