Contact Group on Ukraine welcomes resumption of water, electricity supply

The Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine welcomed resumption of water and electric power supplies on the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, Martin Sajdik, Special Representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in the Contact Group said.

"I note with satisfaction the resumption of water and electricity supply in some areas of the Luhansk region on the basis of the agreement reached in August. In the future there will be need to have more stable coordination mechanism for water supply and appropriate calculations," Sajdik said following the first in 2017 Contact Group meeting in Minsk.

The OSCE Representative also welcomed the progress in the issue of exchange of prisoners. In particular, the Ukrainian side gave the separatists 15 prisoners, representatives of separatists - three, including two women.

On the other hand, the diplomat noted cases of violation of the ceasefire, including with the use of the banned heavy weaponry.

The next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine is scheduled for February 1. Enditem
