Brazilian striker Marinho set to join Changchun Yatai - reports

Xinhua, January 17, 2017 Adjust font size:

Highly rated Brazilian striker Marinho is poised to sign for Chinese Super League club Changchun Yatai, according to media reports in Brazil.

On Monday, the 26-year-old embarked on a flight to the United Arab Emirates, where Changchun Yatai are currently in pre-season training, Uol Esporte reported.

It added that Marinho would undergo a medical on Tuesday before signing a contract.

Last week Marinho confirmed that he planned to leave Brazilian Serie A club Vitoria due to a "surreal" offer from a foreign club.

Rio de Janeiro giants Flamengo were also reportedly interested in signing the forward but could not compete with the salaries offered in China.

Marinho scored 11 goals in 26 matches for Vitoria last year, helping the club avoid relegation to Brazil's Serie B.

Other Brazilians playing in the Chinese Super League include Oscar (Shanghai SIPG), Paulinho (Guangzhou Evergrande) and Renato Augusto (Beijing Guoan).

At Changchun Yatai, Marinho will join fellow Brazilian Bruno Meneghel and Bolivia international striker Marcelo Moreno. Endit
