An Indian para-military trooper Thursday opened fire at colleagues in the eastern state of Bihar, killing four of them, a senior police official said.

"The incident took place during an official briefing of Central Industrial Security Force personnel in the state's Aurangabad town, some 120 kms from Bihar's capital Patna. Suddenly, the trooper opened fire at his colleagues, killing two on the spot and injuring two," he said, on condition of anonymity. (India-Trooper-Shooting)

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- A Taliban key commander Mawlawi Atiqullah was among 12 killed after aircrafts pounded militants' positions in Garmsir district of the southern Helmand province on early Thursday, said a statement of provincial government released here.

The strike was conducted when the militants were busy to organize attacks on government interests, according to the statement. (Afghanistan-Militants)

WASHINGTON -- During U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's first press conference on Wednesday, he battled reporters on Russian hacking and his business interests while shuning some media which he blamed for disseminating fake news.

Trump made an effort to show that he is ready to become the commander in chief, finally accepting the conclusion reached by the intelligence community that Russia was behind the cyberattacks during the election campaign, and pledging to cut clean with his businesses to avoid a conflict of interest in the White House. GENEVA -- The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria said Thursday a cessation of hostilities in place in Syria since Dec. 30 last year is "largely holding."
