Ghana's president-elect announces key staff

Ghana's president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday announced his administrative staff and other significant appointees to help him prosecute the agenda and mandate of Ghanaians for the next four years.

Akufo-Addo named Akosua Frema Opare-Osei as Chief of Staff at the Office of the President to be assisted by Francis Asenso-Okyere and Samuel Jinapor.

Akufo-Addo made the announcement at a press conference held at his residence in Accra.

Opare-Osei becomes the first female Chief of Staff in the annals of the country since 1992.

Private legal practitioner Nana Bediatuo Asante will be the president's secretary.

Other appointments announced by the president-elect are Hassan Ahmed, Director of State Protocol; Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency; Lord Oblitey Commey, Director of Operations; Saratu Atta, Personal Assistant to the President; Clara Napaga Sulemana Tia, Presidential Staffer; Victor Newman, Director of Research; Brigadier-General Emmanuel Okyere, National Security Advisor; and Joshua Kyeremeh, National Security Coordinator.

Albert Kan Dapaah, a former Minister for the Interior under the presidency of John Agyekum Kufuor, has been appointed as the Minister-designate responsible for National Security.

Akufo-Addo will be sworn in on Saturday at a ceremony in Accra. Endit
