Two heroin labs destroyed in Afghanistan

Units of counter-narcotics police in crackdown against illicit drugs launched operations in Khogiani district of the eastern Nangarhar province early Sunday and destroyed two heroin labs, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here.

The operations launched in the far-flung Tarmi village of Khogiani district early Sunday and the police besides destroying two heroin labs had also discovered 5,500 tons of opium poppies, 10 kgs of hashish and 10 kgs of heroin from the site of the operations, the statement added.

Afghanistan by producing 4,800 tons of opium in 2016 had remained among the major poppy growing nations in the world. Enditem
