New H7N9 case reported in Shanghai

A new human H7N9 avian flu case has been reported in Shanghai.

The patient is a 34-year-old man from southwest China's Sichuan Province. He was confirmed as infected with the virus on Thursday, according to Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning.

The man is being treated in hospital.

Another human H7N9 avian flu case was reported on Dec. 22 in Shanghai. The patient, 45, is from Nantong City, Jiangsu Province.

H7N9, a bird flu strain most likely to strike in winter and spring, was first reported to have infected humans in China in March 2013. Endi
