1st LD: Russia confirms Ambassador to Turkey attacked by gunmen

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the country's Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was attacked by gunmen on Monday in Ankara, adding that Moscow has urged Ankara to provide medical aid to the ambassador to ensure his safety.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been informed of the incident, and is currently expecting a report from the ministry and the country's security services over the issue, the Interfax news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying. Endit
