Bulgaria's agricultural output in 2016 amounted to 7.36 billion BGN (3.94 billion U.S. dollars), a 6.7 percent decrease year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Monday.

According to the first estimate of economic accounts for agriculture, the decrease was mainly due to drop in prices of 5.6 percent, and in volumes of 1.2 percent, the agency said.

The value of crop output amounted to 4.96 billion lev, 3.5 percent below than in 2015, data showed. The decrease was in result of drop in prices of 5.7 percent, which could not be compensated by the increase in the volumes at 2.4 percent.

Animal produce output was estimated at 1.74 billion lev, which was 14.3 percent lower than in 2015, the NSI said, adding that the decrease was due a drop in prices and volumes.
