Tokyo shares open lower following U.S. market decline

Tokyo shares opened lower on Monday following the U.S. stock market ended lower last Friday.

As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 27.61 points, or 0.14 percent, from Friday to 19,373.54.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange slid 2.52 points, or 0.16 percent, to 1,548.15.

Decliners were led by securities, iron and steel, and marine transportation issues. Endit
