1st LD: Buses enter rebel-held areas in Aleppo to evacuate rebels

Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Buses started entering rebel-held areas in Syria's northern Syrian city of Aleppo on Thursday to evacuate the last remaining rebels in the city, a military source told Xinhua.

The green-colored government buses entered the few remaining rebel-held areas in eastern Aleppo through the Ramouseh road to evacuate rebels, the source said on condition of anonymity.

Ambulances of the Red Cross also entered eastern Aleppo.

About 15,000 people, including 4,000 rebels, will evacuate on Thursday, as part of a Russian-Turkish deal concluded recently.

The buses will head to rebel-held areas in the southwestern countryside of Aleppo.

With the evacuation, the Syrian army will take over the whole Aleppo city, as it has already controlled 99 percent of the rebel-held areas in the eastern part of the city. Endit
