Polish army buys four Regina modules for over 1 billion USD

Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Huta Stalowa Wola steel mill will deliver four Regina artillery battalion operations modules for the Polish army. A 4.6 billion PLN(1.06 billion U.S. dollars) contract to this effect was signed on Wednesday, the Polish Press Agency reported.

Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said in Stalowa Wola, southeast Poland, that Polish arms plants should be "those which are the base for the production of equipment for the Polish Army."

Szydlo stressed that the agreement will be implemented for eight years and this was good news especially for the plant's employees and for the city.

"We want to continue to develop this direction as it is consistent with the Law and Justice (PiS) party's program," said Szydlo.

Szydlo announced similar contracts in the future, underlining that PiS's program clearly defines that their priority "is economic development based on rebuilding industry, Polish production and interlinking all of these branches so that the arms industry could become a driving force of the Polish economy."

Polish Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz pointed out that the signed contract is of great importance for the development of operational troops. Endit
