Denmark launches program to boost food export

Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Danish showcase program, Food Partnership, was lanuched here on Wednesday in a bid to place Denmark on the global map as a leading exporter of food products and lend the country's food cluster a united marketing voice abroad.

The objective of the program is to help boost exports of food products, ingredients, machinery and technology from the Danish food cluster, according to the Ministry of Environment and Food.

"Danish farmers and food producers are globally acclaimed for their quality products with a high degree of food safety, and we must collaborate to continuously prepare ourselves for ever fiercer competition," Minister for Environment and Food Esben Lunde Larsen said in a statement.

"Therefore, we are consolidating all efforts to market the Danish food cluster to a global market that's crying out for healthy and high-quality food products, produced sustainably and with fewer resources," Larsen added.

Larsen said the the initiative would hopefully increase exports by billions of Danish kroner and create thousands of new jobs in Denmark.

The concept of the program has been copied from State of Green, a platform for showcasing and branding Danish green-tech solutions.

It is funded by a number of large Danish companies in the food area, such as Arla Foods, Danish Crown, Carlsberg and Novozymes, as well as the Confederation of Danish Industry and the Danish Agriculture and Food Council. Endit
