Home Internet access in Bulgaria increases by 4.4 pct in 2016

The share of Bulgarian homes Internet access grew by 4.4 percent year-on-year in 2016 to reach 63.5 percent, a survey by the country's National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Monday.
Nearly half of the households that still do not have Internet access said that the main reason was the lack of Internet skills, 42.5 percent believed that they did not need it, and 32.1 percent said the equipment was expensive.
Most preferred device to access the Internet at home was the mobile phone. It was used by 70.4 percent of active Internet users, followed by the desktop computer (57.7 percent), laptop or notebook (51 percent), and tablet computers (19.0 percent).
In addition to traditional devices, some users chose device like smart TVs, which was used as a device for Internet access by 6.2 percent of the individuals, the NSI said. Endit
